Alfalfa, also known as Medicago sativa, is a remarkable herb associated with stability, abundance, and prosperity. Its medicinal properties and health benefits seem endless, and its use in magic and metaphysical practices is equally extensive when it comes to attracting prosperity, money, and financial abundance. While alfalfa is often mentioned in agricultural contexts, I have fond memories of my grandparents using it to supplement vital nutrients for our sheep during the winter months. Alfalfa was a special treat for them, and the sheep eagerly devoured every last bite before their neighbors could get to it.
Recently, I had a serendipitous encounter with alfalfa, six years after those childhood memories, while playing disc golf in a field. Its stunning purple flowers and vibrant green leaves made it impossible to miss. After using a plant identifier app, I realized that I was already familiar with this plant from my agricultural background. Interestingly, alfalfa had also made its presence known to me when consulting my herbal tarot deck; it is associated with the King of Pentacles card. This card often appears when embarking on new business opportunities or when you seek to create resourceful avenues for financial growth. For me, the King of Pentacles symbolized the peak of my commitment to establishing my online herbal business, instilling faith in me that dedication would lead to prosperity.
Alfalfa is often referred to as the "father of all foods" and is ruled by Jupiter, the planet of expansion, as well as Venus, the planet associated with Taurus. It is elementally linked to Earth and embodies pleasure and enjoyment in life, much like a bull relishing its daily feast on vitamin-rich grass.
Medicinally, alfalfa is a versatile herb used to boost energy and promote blood health. It plays a crucial role in preventing postpartum hemorrhaging and enhancing milk production, making it invaluable for new mothers. Furthermore, it aids in combating chronic fatigue and acts as a tonic that nourishes the entire body with a wealth of vitamins, minerals, and trace minerals, including vitamins A, B, C, D, E, and K, chlorophyll, beta-carotene, and calcium. Alfalfa can be especially beneficial for those who lack vitamin K due to antibiotics, cholesterol-lowering drugs, steroids, or anti-seizure medications. Its myriad benefits extend to promoting healthy skin, addressing ulcers, supporting bone and joint health, toning the kidneys, alleviating UTIs, menopausal symptoms, and endometriosis, improving digestion and protein assimilation, increasing appetite, acting as an antiseptic and detoxifying agent, and enhancing liver function.
Incorporating alfalfa into your holistic wellness routine can be a powerful step toward prosperity and well-being. Its rich history, agricultural significance, and metaphysical ties make it a versatile and potent herb for those seeking abundance in various aspects of life.
